“Ingress” is a glass and paint sculpture, inspired by the theme The World ‘behind’ and ‘in front of’ the Work.
I submitted this work to an exhibition in June 2017, hosted by postgraduate students from the Institute for Theology, Imagination and the Arts (ITIA).
The glass stands between the viewer and the paint, mediating how the viewer perceives the work’s interior patterns. The only way to access the work without this mediation is to penetrate the glass—and so render the work irrevocably changed.
